Metadata is the standardized information used to describe your eBook to our digital distribution partners. A conversion specialist will review the metadata you provide. We will, in turn, provide that information to all our digital distribution partners. Most of our partners have strict guidelines on what characters, information, and descriptors can be used in the metadata. Some examples of basic metadata problems would be incorrect title capitalization, a wrong ISBN, or missing contributor name. If metadata is incorrect, distribution partners may reject a title for distribution outright or delay its release onto their online retail store while the metadata is corrected.
