Yes, it is possible to make changes to your Print or eBook currently in distribution. However, we are limited by our retailers in what changes to printed titles are allowed while still using the same ISBN number. According to rules set forth by Bowker (the ISBN issuing agency,) changes to your manuscript are limited to spelling. Anything beyond these changes will likely classify your book as a New Edition and require a new ISBN number and distribution submission.
We are not able to make any changes that would alter the book’s final page count. We are also not able to make most changes to the book’s Front Cover. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. You can contact BookBaby Production Support by clicking here.
When updates are made, it is possible that older versions of your book may still be available on the market. For more information on this, click here.
Please keep in mind that by updating your book, your minimum POD price may change due to the fluctuation of manufacturing costs for print.
If you have both Hardcover and Softcover, a separate update order must be performed per format. Changes will not be automatically applied between formats.
Below are some costs/rules associated with a Post Distribution Update:
To re-distribute your title, we need to update your title across our entire distribution network. This service costs $100.00 for printed titles. Updating your POD requires at least one single copy of the updated book to be printed and sent to you since the completion/shipment of the book/books on this update order is what triggers the re-archiving of the updated files for this ISBN. This will cost $99.00 + tax with free domestic ground Shipping.
For eBooks, the fee is $50.00 to convert a new ePub file.
If Book Baby handled the design and layout preparation of your book originally, we can make the necessary changes for your distribution update, for an additional charge. Please provide corrections in the format outlined in the Design Proof Reference Guide included in this link. A breakdown of the correction charges can be found here.
