"Backorder" is a word used by Ingram to describe Print-on-Demand, as there are never any books pre-printed and waiting to be shipped. Instead, books are produced upon ordering, and then sent.
We understand this can be confusing sometimes. If you think of 'backorder' as a synonym of Print-on-Demand, it makes better sense.
You can advise the bookstore of this information. A 'backorder' status does not prevent a book store from ordering your title. If they continue the ordering process, they will find the their order will still go through. It's just a 'head's up' so to speak.
If a bookstore still has trouble ordering after giving them this information, send us the store's contact information. We will need the Manager's name, store name, store address, store phone number and email where applicable.
