If you’ve purchased book editing services and your files have been edited by our professionals, you will have the ability to review the changes the editor suggested in your files.
We will supply you with two Microsoft Word (.doc) files. One will be a marked-up version and the other will be a finalized version where the editor has incorporated all of the suggested changes for you.
To download and view the files, please follow these steps:
- Log in to your BookBaby Account
- Click on Open Projects under the Projects tool
- Click on the blue Download Edits button listed on the order
-
Press the blue Download button next to desired version of the file
The file names will appear like:
Marked up – SOXXXXXX_markedup.doc
Final – SOXXXXXX_manuscript.doc
- If a pop-up message appears asking you to save or open the file, click on Save File
- Save file in desired location or on the desktop of your computer
- Double click on file in location you saved it to open the file
Which file should I use?
When viewing the marked-up file, you will see the track changes, which will show you all of the edits made. If you would like to review each of the editor’s changes and have the option to accept or reject each change, please use the Marked-up manuscript.
The final version will contain all the changes made and may feature editor notes about why they did what they did through track changes. If you would like to accept all of the changes from the editor, please use the Final manuscript.
How do I accept/reject changes from the editor?
For information on using Track Changes , please refer to the Microsoft Support pages here:

Do I have to accept/reject every change?
In order to proceed with BookBaby's formatting services, all tracked changes will need to be accepted or rejected, and all comments from the editor will need to be addressed/deleted. If you are using the Marked Up manuscript, please make sure that your final file does not contain any changes/comments from the editor.
Will the editor see which changes I accept or reject?
No, the changes you make in your manuscript will only be visible on your computer. Our editors will not see the changes. The file will not be reviewed again by an editor unless you purchase another editing service.
Will the editor see replies to comments in the manuscript?
There is no need to “reply” to the comments left by the editor. The editor will not see your replies. Please read the information/question from the editor and make any necessary changes directly in the text of your manuscript. All comments should be deleted before submitting your final version of the manuscript for publishing.
What do I do with my final manuscript?
When you have reviewed all changes/comments by the editor and are happy with the text of your manuscript, please contact your Publishing Specialist to set up the next part of the publishing or editing process.
How do I send my manuscript back to the editor?
Once the editing order has been completed and the manuscripts are available to you for download, the editor will not review any changes that you make to the documents. If you would like to purchase a new round of editing, such as a final proofread, please contact your Publishing Specialist.
