How to Convert a Mobi from an ePub using Kindle Previewer 3

As of June 28, 2021, Amazon no longer ingests Mobi files for eBook processing and distribution. BookBaby has since phased out the Mobi format from its internal and external eBook conversion practices.

The good news is the ePub BookBaby provides can easily be exported as a Mobi format should our authors wish to have this particular format available for their own intentions. 

The author can create this format by exporting a Mobi directly from Kindle Previewer 3. You can download Kindle Previewer 3 here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1003018611

  1. Open ePub file provided by BookBaby in Kindle Previewer 3
  2. Click File > Export
  3. In the Save Type As dropdown, select Books (.mobi)
  4. Click Export
  5. You will see a prompt confirming the export is successful, but advising that ePub is the preferred format.
