When you submit a PDF to BookBaby, we use that file exactly as provided.
This helps preserve the integrity of your work and ensures that the final product reflects exactly what you approved.
Why we can’t make changes to your PDF
A PDF is considered a final, print-ready file. By submitting it, you’re confirming that the content, formatting, and design are complete and ready for production.
To avoid introducing unintended changes or errors, we do not alter or edit customer-supplied PDFs - including:
- Correcting typos or grammatical errors
- Updating text or images
- Adjusting formatting or spacing
- Replacing fonts or design elements
- Making revisions to indexes, footnotes, or linked content
Even small changes can affect page layout and formatting in unexpected ways. To ensure accuracy and maintain your creative control, any revisions must be made by you in your original source file.
How to make changes to your file
If you need to revise your book after submitting your PDF, simply:
- Open your original source file on your own computer
- Make the necessary edits
- Export or save a new PDF
- Submit the updated PDF to BookBaby
This ensures that your revisions are intentional and that the file we receive matches your exact expectations.
What if I can't make the changes myself?
If you don't have the original source file, or can't make the changes yourself, contact our team about adding manuscript formatting services to your order.
Because self-publishing puts authors in control, we believe the final decisions about your content should remain with you.
By working only from the PDF you provide, and requiring any changes to come directly from you, we help ensure that your published book is an accurate reflection of your vision.
