No! You shouldn’t list ChatGPT or any other LLM program as a contributor in your book’s metadata. Contributors should be humans, not tools. Would you read a book where the author lists “Microsoft Word” as a co-author? Of course not!
Proper metadata gives your book a professional look and helps increase the likelihood of converting sales. Along with only listing humans, you’ll want to double-check that names are spelled right, match the cover of the book, and keep one name to a line. You should also consider industry standards and genre conventions for who should be listed as a contributor. Your teen romance novel shouldn’t list an editor; your collection of scientific essays should!
