A print-ready file is a PDF that meets all of the criteria of a successfully-printed product. This means that it will pass our file analysis with ease and onto production:
- The file is supplied as CMYK and not RGB. If you are unfamiliar with this process, we can convert it for you, though appearances can vary. For more information on CMYK, click here.
- The document’s page size is the finished trim size.
- Your spine width is based off of the template downloaded from your account.
- Fonts are embedded or converted to outlines. Not sure how to embed your fonts? Click here for instructions.
- All images have a resolution of 300 dpi or higher(Cover artwork included)
- Images are embedded in the file.
- Files are supplied with 0.25” bleed for interior files and softcover files, or 0.65” for hardcover files. For more information on bleed, click here.
- Artwork has appropriate margins (0.65” in the gutter unless there are intended spreads, and the page edge margin is about 0.35”).
- Blacks in the file must be true black and not registration black.
- PDF must be free of any annotations, comments, sticky notes, or other elements pasted into your PDF in Acrobat.
